Prop List For My Trailers
Now that I have my filming dates I am going to put together a prop list, so that I am ready for shooting.
Below are the props I will need:
Car
The car is crucial as the first part of my teaser trailer will feature a montage of driving shots. It is also important because the car breaking down will be the inciting incident in my plot, leaving my protagonist Jim stranded in an isolated rural area when he cannot fix it.
Camera
Camera Bag
Jim will carry this with him at all times, and we will see it in the long take of Jim walking up the vast driveway in the teaser trailer.
Bundle of Sage
My research into rituals and customs associated with the Equinox highlighted that bundles of herbs, including sage, rosemary and thyme, are often burnt during Equinox celebrations. I will film this happening as a means of drugging Jim and luring him into the celebrations that take place in the narrative. This prop will feature in both of my trailers.
Mobile Phone
Jim (and the audience) will realise just how isolated he is when he fails to get reception on his mobile phone. This will present a crisis in the narrative, meaning that Jim will not be able to call for help. In the teaser trailer Jim will reference that he has no reception and in his conversation with Brigid it will be revealed that there are no phones at the house, and therefore no contact with the outside world.
Packet of Seeds for the Ritual
My research suggested that many Equinox rituals are associated with new life and planting, so I want to incorporate shots of Brigid planting or sprinkling seeds.
Gardening Tools
Brigid's connection with nature and the earth will be shown through shots of her using gardening tools to replenish the soil. All of the rituals in the film will be associated with re-birth and the coming of new life, represented by the way Brigid and her followers tend the soil.
Gardening Basket
Brigid will be shown carrying this basket, again reinforcing her connection to nature and the earth.
