Analysing Film Posters - 'The Room Next Door'

The first film poster I am going to analyse is for the psychological drama 'The Room Next Door' directed by Spanish auteur Pedro Almodovar.

The conventions of posters it contains include:

• dominant central image of both main characters
• reference to film festivals it has premiered at
• name of director/writer
• names of key stars
• names of supporting actors
• names of the production companies/production company logos
• reference to source material (based on a novel)
• reference to genre through the central image
• billing block (though this is in an unusual position)
