Analysing Film Social Media Pages - 'Evil Dead Rises'
The first film I am going to look at in terms of their viral marketing is 'Evil Dead Rise', a horror remake.
The social media page I have looked at for 'Evil Dead Rise' is the film's Twitter/X page. One of the accounts associated with the film is titled EvilDeadnews and the profile picture is a creepy man's face, instantly indicating genre to the user. This account displays other social media links for the film, such as Facebook, tumbler, Instagram and a blog that has been created to promote the film.
Another account was the Evil Dead's film franchise verified account. This page contains the movie poster, hashtags, links to their website and the release date. They have posted trailers, as well as images and videos of the stars in the film at premieres and conducting interviews. Very effectively, these profiles are all linked to one another, and there is a section on the page saying 'you might also like' which shows other accounts they hold relating to the movie.

Typical of viral marketing, the purpose of the account is to keep users informed about the film but also to create intrigue and to get the users to interact. One tweet, for example, asks the audience to figure out where one of the stars is hidden in the film - with a reward of money if they do. Clearly, audience interaction - via comments or competitions - is crucial to a film's viral marketing platforms.
